Still adds up to 24% but slightly differently and puts more of an emphasis on the helmet. Now sure, I might just be unlucky, but the fact that even can happen, means that I'd prefer to steer newer players towards more risk averse options, at least initially, and then say "Here are some really really powerful options now that you've got farming under control".Īlso incredibly minor nitpicks that I don't think detract from your argument at all but just want you to know: Helmets have a max roll of 17% CS according to GUTS but gloves have a max roll of 7%. You spend hours and hours and hours farming and don't get any rares that are even close to what you want. This has been my experience with a lot of rare farming. You theoretically can enchant Gloves, Helm, Chest Armour or Wand/Staff with +16% Cast Speed, however the likelihood of hitting that enchantment repeatedly is so gargantuanly low I think the heat death of the universe is actually a real threat before you'd get it to happen. Its just I feel that what a lot of people miss, particularly with regards to things like enchanting, is the associated difficulty with doing something. I think I'll add your suggestion to the guide. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think you're wrong here.

Its much easier to get multiples for enchanting purposes. However here are why I would still recommend new players farming the Asphyx set: Now I can definitely see some situations on some builds where the Helm CS would be preferable over the Asphyx set. I'm not convinced that the 7% CS is worth going after vs a potential minimum of 124 Focus. This means, meaningfully if you're after CS then yes your options are realistically probably Helm and Staff/Wand. First up according to guts you can get it on Gloves, Chest Armour, Helmet, Staff and Wand as Minor Enchants however the chest armour can only receive the minor enchant and gloves can't receive any of the enchants above that.

Now on to what I would consider to be the bulk of your argument. If you look at the TL2 wiki you'll notice in order to gain the Aristocrat Set an Item must have certain prerequisites and those prerequisites by virtue of how many item slots they will take up automatically disqualify it from having cast speed. Which you can do for either piece of gear.Īlso if we're talking about pieces from the aristocrat's set then you have a problem. Attempting that multiple times seems insane to me. The likelihood of even just 1 cast speed enchant is very low, I cant be bothered calculating it but I can tell you its easily less than 0.1%. However given that I happen to be looking at the enchant table right now, to be honest aiming for cast speed enchants would be an insane thing to do. The second thing I would say is you can also enchant cast speed onto the asphyx set. When socketed into armour they do other things. The reason that Asphyx set is good has nothing to do with CHC or CHD as the gems that provide those bonuses only provide them when they are socketed into weapons. I think you misunderstand how some of the gems work. And that I think is worth considering when planning your build. Obviously, you won't get the extra 6 sockets from the The Asphyx and the Hands of Orlac, but you get something that can't be obtained by any other gems in game. Obviously, cast speed won't be useful for every character, but it makes playing mage/glaivelander much safer and more enjoyable and might even be a great damage multiplier (considering at 500% CHD and 100% CHC, putting more point into focus only gives you minimal damage increase). If everything aligns just right, you can get a maximum of 48% cast speed from just 2 pieces. Not only that, you can enchant these with cast speed, up to 9% (if you get lucky lol) and gets an extra 6% if both are from the Aristocrat set. This is when I found out that Rare Helmets (max roll is 16%) and Rare Gloves (max roll is 8%) can roll cast speed. However, this is not very efficient since Huge Chaos Ember only gives 6% cast speed each, which is no where near the power of 60% CHD or 10% CHC. These easiest way to get more cast speed is from weapons and socketable in weapons.

Cast speed and how to scale it (also a reason for not using The Asphyx and the Hands of Orlac).įrom my time of playing the game. There is another aspect I think people might find useful. A very detailed guide on the mechanic of the game.
